Abstract
Ecclesiastical history has revealed that despite the preponderance of women in the church, historical narratives have frequency overlooked their contributions. Despite the array of literature on Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN) on areas like policy making, pastoral ministry, little attention has been given to Women’s Work Department (WWD), despite it being the umbrella body for all female organization both globally and nationally. This research does an exposition on those women who pioneered the WWD in MCN, highlighting their various contributions to the development of the history and life of the church and society 1962-2012. The research utilises oral history as a methodology as oral interviews were used to elicit information from relevant persons. Keywords: African Philosophy of Family, Family, Postmodernism, Phenomenology, Dialectics
