A Review on Intrusion Detection and Prevention System on Monitoring and Protecting Information in Network

Abstract

My main objective for undertaking this study is to design an intrusion detection and protection system that will protect data from unauthorized users and improve the overall quality of the system. I was motivated by the rate at which computer hackers consume resource such as bandwidth for internet provider thereby resulting in an unfair consumption. In this paper, we propose a platform for the intrusion detection based upon a top down distributed approach design which decomposition the research algorithm into modules. The programming language used in the design was Microsoft visual Basic 6.0 and SSADM software methodology was adopted. This prototype design will provide additional protection in the overall security of the network in a telecommunication system. The intrusion detection systems have to be adapted to the change of the users’ behavior and to the complex evolution of the networks.
