You Cannot Love God And Hate Your Neighbour: The Virtue of Charity, A Reflection of God’s Love.

Abstract

Love is a gift from God. It is not exactly that we love God; on the contrary, it is God who loves us. God loves us that He sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Since God loves us so much; we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is perfected in us. Fraternal love is the participation in God’s love for us in Christ. We express this love in our relationship with others. Those who are blessed with the living presence of the father and the son through the Holy Spirit love others with the same divine love. This paper will look into the definition of Virtue, the meaning of Charity and identify who is your Neighbour. It will also deal on the notion of Charity, the love of oneself, as a unity between the love of God and Neighbour. The paper recommends that we should love our neighbours and avoid hate, since hate has the capacity to ruin our relationship with God
